Dr. Fatemeh Afghah ’13 Ph.D. – Spirit of Maine Achievement Award
Dr. Fatemeh Afghah, a 2013 Ph.D. graduate in electrical engineering from the University of Maine, has been selected to receive the Spirit of Maine Achievement Award. The award recognizes UMaine alumni who, within fifteen years of graduation, have demonstrated outstanding professional, scholarly and public impact.
Afghah is a tenured associate professor at Clemson University, where her research focuses on artificial intelligence, wireless communication and autonomous systems. Her work is advancing intelligent drone networks that support wildfire detection, disaster response and the protection of communities and natural resources.
Her accomplishments reflect the impact of a UMaine engineering education and the global influence of its alumni.
