Incoming Engineering Students,

Welcome to campus! As part of Welcome Week, we want to make sure that we share our fall 2020 advising strategy with you, so that you know how to reach us if you need help. As you will see below, we have a three-part advising process in the Dean’s Office, with specific instructions about how to reach us during Welcome Week, during the first two weeks of classes, and all other times in the semester after the first two weeks. Please carefully read these instructions, so that we can make sure to connect with you and assist you.

Please note: while Zoom appointments are ongoing, responses via phone and email may be slightly delayed. However, we will always do our best to answer your questions in a timely manner.

Welcome Week Advising

During Welcome Week, we will be using virtual drop-in hours each day, to personally answer your questions in Zoom. Once you are logged in,  you will be admitted to a waiting room, and then helped on a one-to-one basis. Please review your email for instructions on how to access a zoom meeting.

The virtual drop-in hours for Welcome Week (August 24 through August 28) are:

M-F 9:00-10:30 am ET time and 2-3:30 pm ET

If you cannot make these virtual drop-in hours, please email Niya or Laurie for assistance at other times during the day. Both Laurie and Niya can assist you with any registration or scheduling needs during this week.

Virtual Walk-In Advising for the First Two Weeks:

For the first two weeks of classes, Monday, August 31 through Friday, September 11, we will be in a shared Zoom room from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm ET, to help students on a one-to-one basis with scheduling and registration requests.  Please review your email for instructions on how to access a zoom meeting.

Advising By Appointment-Only After the First Two Weeks:

After the first two weeks, some face-to-face appointments may be possible, depending on conditions on campus. However, for the moment, we are booking all appointments as Zoom appointments. If our modality changes, we will be sure to let you know. For now, when you schedule through Navigate, you will automatically receive a Zoom link when your appointment is confirmed.

To schedule with Laurie or Niya in Navigate, please follow these instructions.

Please review the advising service you need assistance with, and then choose Niya or Laurie accordingly
