Kyle Rooney
Energy Systems Engineer
Kyle Rooney is an Energy Systems Engineer for the University of Maine’s Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC). Kyle Rooney graduated UMaine’s Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program with a minor in Mathematics in 2019. Kyle also graduated UMaine’s Professional Science and Master’s program in Business and Engineering in 2023.
During the first 4 years in his role at the AMC, Kyle served as the Assistant Director of New England’s Combined Heat and Power Technical Assistance Partnership (CHP TAP), funded through the Department of Energy to promote the use of CHP and provide technical assistance to potential end-users interested in CHP. As a tutor and teaching assistant for Thermodynamics during his undergrad, Kyle worked with the CHP TAP as an Undergraduate Research Assistant for approximately a year where his interest in Energy Management was found. In the Fall of 2023, Kyle served as an Adjunct Professor at UMaine teaching the Fundamentals of Thermodynamics to MET students, and tutors students in related courses regularly. As of January 2024, Kyle officially became a Certified Energy Manager through the Association of Energy Engineers.
Kyle’s current responsibilities include AMC-related projects for clients and working with University of Maine students, and employers in the manufacturing sector, to facilitate internship opportunities through the recently established Pathways to Careers program. In his free time, Kyle enjoys skiing and shooting pool competitively.
