Alumni and Friends
Our tradition of engineering excellence began with the University’s first graduating class when four of the six graduates received engineering degrees. Over the next 25 years, sixty percent of all degrees were awarded to civil and mechanical engineers. Naturally, our early graduates played prominent roles in building America’s infrastructure from Hoover Dam and the Colorado Aqueduct to the San Francisco Bay Bridge Foundation. Today, we educate outstanding engineers in eleven ABET accredited undergraduate programs and eight graduate programs. Our students and faculty conduct nationally competitive research contributing their creative talents to changing our world. We partner with companies and communities from across the state and nation to engineer economic development in Maine and ensure that Maine continues to grow and protect its resources and quality of life. We welcome your help in promoting our teaching and research programs, allowing them to continue to contribute meaningfully in an increasingly complex world. Please feel free to contact me or any of the Dean’s office staff.
We could not continue over 150 years of engineering excellence without the work and commitment of our alumni who make our world a better place through innovation and discovery.
