Girls Engineer Maine
The College of Engineering at the University of Maine is committed to increasing the number of women engineers through a concentrated effort to expose young women to the field of engineering so that they may better understand the wonderful opportunities in engineering and how they best can prepare. We offer tours and outreach to help raise awareness about engineering to young women, primarily through middle and high school.
GEM is a statewide educational outreach program from the University of Maine College of Engineering designed to increase the number of women studying engineering in Maine. To promote girls in engineering, GEM aims at:
- Helping high school and middle school girls to understand better what engineers do
- Encouraging girls to explore how to prepare for an engineering career

Engineer Your Life is a guide to engineering careers for high school girls.
