Educating Engineers for Today’s Workforce

Our school was established in 1975 and offers four degree options for our students. Our programs are explicitly designed to prepare graduates for engineering careers. We accomplish this by working closely with industry to ensure that students are provided “hands on” experience with today’s technology and applications.

Our four engineering technology programs are explicitly designed to prepare graduates for engineering careers. We accomplish this by working closely with industry to ensure that students are provided “hands on” experience with today’s technology and applications.

The School of Engineering Technology is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025, marking half a century of engineering education.

Engineering Technology Degree Programs:

Construction Engineering Technology

The Construction Engineering Technology (CET) program blends civil engineering technology, construction, and business management. With a strong foundation in math and science, students progressively develop expertise in technical construction and construction business management for successful careers.

Electrical Engineering Technology

The Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) program at the University of Maine prepares students for careers in industry with a strong foundation in electrical and electronic engineering. With a focus on power, renewable energy, motion control, and microcomputer applications, EET equips graduates for success in the Northeast.

Mechanical Engineering Technology

The Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program provides quality education, fostering innovation, creativity, and leadership. MET equips students with the skills to tackle complex engineering challenges in Maine, the U.S., and beyond, preparing them for impactful careers in a rapidly evolving world.

Surveying Engineering Technology

The Surveying Engineering Technology (SVT) program equips students with the skills needed for professional practice. With a strong foundation in math and physical sciences, students progressively develop expertise in surveying, business, and engineering, preparing them for successful careers in the field.
